Who would have thought that American Idol, the number one show right now, would actually sing a christian song.
Them singing Shout to the Lord was a suprise. That is because TV shows aired at primtime or hit tv shows do not usually or rarely showcase christian songs and for AI to sing one of the best worship song is something different. It is like a bridging the gap between mainstream song and chrisitian songs.
For some you failed to see the performance, below are the videos from youtube. For the first video, instead of the Jesus on the beginning, they've changed it to shepherd for reasons I do not know. This was performed during Idol Gives Back.
The second video, on the other hand, contains the original lyrics but was performed on separate day.

Idid miss this performance on the show but i will let my friends know about it..
The name of jesus is powerful and so they might have felt that saying My shepherd instead of My Jesus was safer..
but the message in the song still has power and could speak to hearts that listen.
