-v2 "consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds
-v3 because you know that the testing of your faith DEVELOPS PERSEVERANCE
-v4 so that you may be MATURE, COMPLETE, and NOT LACKING ANYTHING."
-trials work for us and not against us
- the only way God can develop patience in us is through trials

- receive the crown of life

This was the story of Gideon and the army of 300
1. Greatly strengthened
- negative circumstances are brought to strengthen our faith
2. Severely tested
- Gideon's army was cut from 22,000 to 10,000 to 300 vs an army of multitudes
3. Greatly encouraged
- when problems arise, look to God and not the problems
- when problems are solved, thank God, for the all glory belongs to Him
- can encourage those around us
- it is our part to tell others about the goodness of God

1. Bits & Rudder = Power to direct
- often small but can direct
- words we speak can affect the lives of others
ex. when a judge calls a verdict "guilty" or "not-guilty"
- can also encourage or discourage others
2. Fire & Animals = Power to destroy
- evil words has the power to destroy and are very dangerous when spoken
- like serpents, some tongues spread poison
- can depress
- sets the course of the persons life on fire
3. Fountain & Fig tree = Power to Delight
- like fountains and springs that refreshes us

1. Redeemed from personal insufficiency
- when we acknowledge that we are insufficient, God's help will arrive
- God delivers us from our distress
- v4 - the people were lost, then after praying, God led them to the right path
- v9 - when they were hungry and thirsty, God satisfied them with good things
2. Redeemed from sin
- Bondages we that hinders us
.Bondage of mind
.Bondage of the human capacity
.Bondage of the heart
-v14 God brought them out of darkness and broke away their chains
- w/ God's help we can break away from what binds us (sin)
3. Redemption from adversities
-v25 God is the author of the storm
-God allows storms in our lives so our faith and belief in Him will grow and strengthen
-the believers can lose their courage and reasoning during a storm
-v29 God stilled the storm to a whisper
*GIVE Thanks to the Lord for He is Good and His Love endures forever
closing song "Hallelujah to the Lamb"
